Retour à la Base – the decarbonization of maritime transport

location

56100 Lorient

From 13 December to 13 December 2023
from 09h00 to 18h00

On November 26, 40 IMOCA boats will line up at the starting line of the brand-new race called Retour à La Base. Departing from Fort-de-France and heading for Lorient, this transatlantic sprint from west to east will give the skippers the opportunity to take on the solo challenge a year ahead of the Vengée Globe. The event’s organizers are keen to ensure that the race is part of a responsible, ecological approach, and are launching a ground-breaking initiative to support the transition to low-carbon freight transport. Each of the 40 IMOCA boats setting sail will be loaded with a 20-kilo bag of cocoa beans from Martinique, which will be processed by artisan chocolate-makers on arrival in mainland France.

The perfect opportunity to find out more about this sector of the propulsion industry for freight and passenger transport.
